Collaborative Compassionate Care
Have you ever been treated by a psychiatrist before? If not then this description is for you. Psychiatric treatment begins with a thorough interview. This consists of listening to the main issues, reviewing psychiatric symptoms, medical history, family history, social history. Laboratory testing is often ordered, and genetic testing can be ordered if indicated. This process is collaborative and results in diagnosis. From the diagnosis, treatment planning begins. This is also collaborative as various treatments are discussed. Your input is very important throughout this process.
